Spencer Brown

 

Spencer joined The Providence Group brokerage team in 2015.  He is a native Charlottean and a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College where he received a B.A. in Economics.  Spencer began his career in 2001 at Collett, a retail development and brokerage firm in Charlotte, NC, where he was responsible for its in house and third-party leasing portfolio.

With over 20 years in commercial real estate, Spencer has expertise in leasing everything from new strip developments to power centers, redevelopment, land sales and general brokerage, gained through hundreds of transactions with local, regional and national tenants.

Jay Hagerman

Jay joined the brokerage team at The Providence Group in early 2004. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech where he received a B.S. degree in Business. A native of Virginia, he immediately moved to Charlotte to begin his career in Commercial Real Estate following graduation.

Jay’s primary focus is that of Tenant Representation. He works with retailers from 1,500 SF – 20,000 SF all across North Carolina and South Carolina. His knowledge, in both small and large markets across each state, benefits his clients in each transaction. Some of the retailers he has represented include: AT&T, McAlister’s Deli, MOD Pizza, Krispy Kreme, Planet Fitness, 7Brew, Deca Dental, Burger King, Walk On’s and Advance Auto Parts to name a few. Jay also has experience assisting Landlords and Developers with underwriting and leasing high profile, outparcel developments, for single tenant and multi-tenant buildings. His commitment and attention to detail help him succeed at every transaction.

Garland Hughes



Bringing 20 years if commercial real estate development and brokerage experience, Garland joined the Providence Group in late 2016, after working for MPV Properties for twelve years and Crosland Retail for eight years. Garland received his MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC-Chapel Hill and his undergraduate degree in Psychology at the College of Charleston. In 1995, after completing Aon Specialty Risk Service’s management training program with the Mergers and Acquisitions group. Garland returned to the Carolinas to pursue his interests in commercial real estate with Crosland, Inc.’s retail division in 1996 where he was responsible for managing anchor leasing, leading a team of leasing associates and pursuing new development opportunities. Garland’s experience is concentrated in the retail sector with tenant representation, anchor leasing and development portfolios ranging from build-to-suit transactions, neighborhood shopping centers, regional shopping centers and mixed-use developments across the Southeastern United States. Garland primarily represents national big box, junior anchors and restaurants including Lowes Home Improvement, Main Event Entertainment, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Chuy’s Mexican Food, Old Chicago Pizza & Tap Room, Chuck E. Cheese’s, among others. Melissa McDonald

 

Bringing over 35 years of commercial real estate experience, Melissa joined the Providence Group as a Partner in late 2011 after working with Core Properties for fifteen years. Melissa is a native of Lancaster PA and has lived in North Carolina since 1990. Her commercial real estate experience has included landlord leasing, retail consulting and tenant representation, which is the primary focus of her business. Melissa represents mostly junior box retailers and restaurants including TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Home Goods, Homesense, Sierra, Michaels, Ulta, Five Below, Sola Salons, West Marine and Shake Shack in addition to a few regional restaurant and retail groups.

Her thorough knowledge of the Carolinas markets and work with a variety of retailers has created strong synergy within the Providence Group’s tenant representation group.

Malcolm McLean



Bringing 30 years of Commercial brokerage experience, Malcolm joined The Providence Group as partner in 2002 after five years with Trammell Crow Company in Charlotte as Senior Vice President. He is a native Charlottean and a graduate of North Carolina State University where he received his BA in Business. His commercial experience includes site selection for national, regional and local retailers, disposition of surplus property, and site selection advisory services. His seasoned knowledge and extensive market understanding have proved to be a tremendous benefit to his clients.

Andrew Tanneberger

Andrew Tanneberger joined the brokerage team at The Providence Group in 2016. As a native Charlottean and a graduate of the University of Delaware with a B.S. in Marketing, Andrew brings a wealth of local insight and academic knowledge to his role. His commercial real estate experience spans site selection for national, regional, and local retailers, as well as the disposition of surplus property. Andrew’s deep market knowledge, diligent work ethic, and meticulous attention to detail have consistently delivered positive results for his clients.

Darren Wood

Originally from the UK, Darren moved to the USA in 1996 after starting his career in commercial retail real estate in the UK in 1992 with Donaldsons based in London. He graduated from South Bank University, London, with a BSC (HONS) in Real Estate. Darren joined the Providence Group as a partner in 2003 after previously working with Trammell Crow Company and CB Commercial in Charlotte, NC.

Darren started his career in retail leasing and moved towards Tenant Representation. His clients have included Aldi Foods (200+ stores in 15 States), TJ Maxx Companies, The Home Depot, Advance Auto Parts, Skechers, 7 Brew and Dash-In convenience stores. Darren is currently involved in advising clients in the Southeastern United States in various capacities.
