Jay joined the brokerage team at The Providence Group early in 2004. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech where he received a B.S. degree in Business. A native of Virginia, he immediately moved to Charlotte following graduation to begin his career in Commercial Real Estate. Jay's primary focus is that of Tenant Representation. He works with retailers from 1,000 SF - 20,000 SF in North Carolina and South Carolina.
His market knowledge, in both small and large trade areas across the state, benefi ts his clients in each transaction. Jay's clients include: AT&T, Oreck, McAlister's Deli, Planet Fitness, Menchies and Geico. Jay also has experience representing Landlords with leasing assignments for power centers, grocery anchored centers, and small neighborhood and community strip centers. National real estate companies, in addition to local and regional developers have contracted Jay for his leasing experience.

Jen joined The Providence Group in 2008 after moving to Charlotte from Los Angeles. Jen graduated from Carroll University in Wisconsin with B.S. degrees in Graphic Communication and Commercial Art. After college, she moved to Los Angeles and started her career in commercial real estate marketing at Regency Centers as Regional Marketing manager for the Pacifi c Region.
Jen has worked with a number of regional and national retailers, developers, landlords and brokers in creating marketing materials, planning marketing events, generating foot traffi c and leasing space.
Jen excels at preparing eye-catching marketing materials, gaining visibility for newly vacant spaces, developing strategies to fi nd tenants for hard-to-lease space, planning and staffi ng events, trade show coordination and more.

Born in London England, Darren moved to the USA in 1996 after starting his career in commercial retail real estate with Donaldsons in London in 1991. He graduated from South Bank University, London, with a BSC (HONS) in Real Estate Management. Darren joined the Providence Group as a partner in 2003 after previously working with Trammell Crow Company and CB Commercial in Charlotte, NC.
Darren's retail experience includes mall leasing, site selection (Aldi Foods 100+ stores, Home Depot & Discount Tire Co.), disposition services (Home Depot & Circuit City) and project leasing. Darren is currently involved in advising clients in NC, SC, GA, VA, TN, MD, IA, IL and MN in various capacities.

Thurman's primary focus is Landlord Representation. He has over 14 years experience in real estate brokerage, development and fi nancing in Charlotte. Prior to joining the Providence Group, Thurman worked at Myers Park Mortgage and served as Director of Leasing for Faison & Associates, handling the marketing of shop space, junior anchor space and outparcels for their Carolinas and Virginia developments and shopping centers, including third party accounts. Bringing 20 years of commercial brokerage experience, Melissa joined the Providence Group as a Partner in late 2011, after working with Core Properties Inc. in Charlotte for close to fifteen years. Melissa is a native of Lancaster, PA and has lived in North Carolina since 1983. Her commercial experience has included Landlord leasing and retail consulting in addition to tenant representation, which is the primary focus of her business. Melissa represents mostly junior box retailers and restaurants including TJX, Michaels, Cost Plus World Market, Ulta, Five Below, Anna's Linens, Sola Salons, West Marine, Krispy Kreme and Zoe's Kitchen.

James Carpenter

James joined The Providence group as their first GIS Specialist in 2012. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and concentrated in Geographic Information Systems.
He is the on-hand specialist for creating demographic profiles, market research, and aerial maps for use in commercial real estate. Additionally, he has experience in: transportation planning, data development, and environmental mapping.

A native of Greenville, SC, James joined The Providence Group Team in July of 2012. He is alums of Winthrop University where he received his B.S. in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing. James began his Real Estate career with a Charlotte based fi rm, NAI Southern Real Estate where he directly managed over 1.2 million square feet of retail centers.
During his career, James has performed management services for various building asset classes that include Offi ce, Medical, Industrial, Retail and POA management. He has extensive experience in the management of various types of retail centers involving tenant relations, rents collections, marketing, budget forecasting, capital planning, construction management, lease abstraction and administration, contract management, eviction proceedings, preventative maintenance and building operation. James has experience working with an array of clients and tenant’s including regional and national bank and various mid-size and large anchor tenants.
